The Ingredients That Make Maple Pecan Coffee Special

The best part about Maple Pecan Coffee is that it’s made with just a few ingredients that come together to create a truly unforgettable taste. Let’s take a closer look at what makes each one of them essential to this fall-inspired treat.

  • Espresso – The base of any good coffee drink starts with a strong espresso shot. Espresso offers a bold, robust flavor that contrasts beautifully with the sweetness of maple syrup and the richness of the milk foam. Without a shot of espresso, your maple pecan creation would simply be a flavored milk beverage, lacking the depth and complexity that espresso provides. It's the foundation that elevates the entire drink.
  • Milk – Steamed milk is the secret to creating the creamy texture that gives Maple Pecan Coffee its luxurious mouthfeel. The milk balances out the boldness of the espresso, making the drink velvety and smooth. You can opt for whole milk, almond milk, or oat milk. Each offers its own subtle variation in flavor and texture, so feel free to choose whichever works best for you.

Adding some flavors

  • Maple syrup – Maple syrup is the hero ingredient of this recipe. Providing that deep, natural sweetness that makes this coffee feel so cozy and indulgent. Its earthy, slightly caramelized flavor blends harmoniously with the roasted notes of the espresso and the nuttiness of the pecans. It’s a fall classic for a reason, and it’s the perfect complement to this maple pecan combination.
  • Pecan extract – Pecan extract is the star ingredient that ties everything together. A few drops of this rich, nutty extract bring the flavor of pecans to the forefront without overpowering the other ingredients. The extract adds that authentic, toasty flavor that we love in the fall. It also gives the coffee a touch of warmth and comfort. If you can’t find pecan extract, you can use a light pecan syrup as an alternative.

Don't forget the garnish

  • Pecan – To finish off this beautiful drink, we use a whole pecan as a garnish. Not only does it add a rustic, inviting touch to the coffee, but it also reinforces the flavor profile with a crunchy texture that contrasts nicely with the creamy milk and espresso. It’s a small detail that elevates the drink and gives it that extra special touch.

How to Make Maple Pecan Coffee

Ready to make your own Maple Pecan Coffee at home? It’s easier than you think!

Here’s how you can brew your very own cup of fall magic:

  • Steam the milk – In a milk pitcher, steam 120 ml of milk with 5 drops of pecan extract. Heat the milk to around 60°-65°C (140°-149°F), or until the bottom of the pitcher becomes too hot to touch. As you steam the milk, aim to create a 1.5 cm foam that’s sweet and nutty. This will give your coffee that beautiful creamy texture we all love.
  • Maple syrup base – Pour 1 tablespoon of maple syrup into the bottom of your glass. This will allow the syrup to mix in smoothly once the hot milk and espresso are added.
  • Brew the espresso – Brew 50 ml of espresso (or 2 servings) and pour it into the glass with the maple syrup. Watch as the dark espresso swirls together with the golden syrup, creating a mesmerizing visual effect.

Sevre and enjoy!

  • Assemble the drink – Pour the steamed milk over the espresso and syrup mixture. The milk should be foamy and creamy, floating gently on top of the coffee, while still blending in with the espresso and syrup below.
  • Garnish & Serve – Top your Maple Pecan Coffee with a single pecan for garnish. It adds an extra touch of elegance and a final nutty note to the drink. Serve with a spoon so your guests can stir the maple syrup into the coffee and enjoy the full depth of flavor.

Which Coffee Machine Should You Use for Maple Pecan Coffee?

To get the best results when making this coffee, you’ll want to use a coffee machine that’s capable of brewing a strong espresso shot. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can also use a stovetop espresso maker or even a high-quality coffee maker that has an espresso shot option.

When it comes to steaming milk, a milk frother is ideal. If you have an espresso machine with a steam wand, you can use that for perfectly steamed milk.

Alternatively, a handheld milk frother can also do the job well, giving you the same creamy results.

Who Should Try This Recipe?

This Maple Pecan Coffee is perfect for anyone who loves sweet, creamy coffee drinks and is looking for something seasonal to embrace the fall vibes. It’s great for a cozy morning, a relaxing afternoon, or even as a special treat for gatherings. Whether you’re working from home, watching your favorite Netflix series, or just taking a break from your busy day, this coffee will make everything feel just a little bit more special.

My personal note on it...

As a Central European woman, it was quite a novelty when I first tasted American pancakes as a child, just like our American friends showed us. One piece of butter in the middle of the pancake, drenched with maple syrup. I can still feel its creamy taste in my mouth. Since then, I’ve been a huge fan of maple syrup.

In my opinion, anything that involves maple syrup can only be good. So, it’s probably no surprise that Maple Pecan Coffee quickly became one of my favorite coffee creations. I’m always delighted to have it. However, it’s in the fall, when I’m curled up in a comfy chair with a blanket, staring out at the gloomy, misty weather, sipping my big cup of Maple Pecan Coffee while I binge-watch Bridgerton for the umpteenth time, that I truly cherish it.

Variations on the Maple Pecan Coffee Recipe

While this Maple Pecan Coffee recipe is delicious on its own, you can always experiment to make it even more customized to your taste.

Here are a few variations

Maple Pecan Latte: For a more traditional latte feel, use the same recipe but add more steamed milk to create a less intense espresso flavor. This makes the drink even creamier and lighter, perfect if you prefer a softer coffee flavor.

Iced Maple Pecan Coffee: If you’re craving a cool treat, try this recipe over ice. Brew your espresso, let it cool down, and then pour it over ice, following the same method for the milk and maple syrup.

Maple Nuts Coffee: If you like a more textured coffee, sprinkle some crushed pecans or even walnuts on top after garnishing. This adds a crunchy texture that enhances the nutty flavor.

Dairy-Free Version: For a dairy-free version, simply swap the milk for almond milk, oat milk, or another non-dairy alternative. You’ll still enjoy the creamy texture and sweetness, but without the dairy!

So... what are you waiting for?

Grab your favorite mug, whip up a batch, and let this cozy coffee become your go-to fall indulgence.

And don’t forget—if you loved this recipe, share it with your fellow coffee enthusiasts. Let’s spread the joy, one cup at a time!
